Content

Pages

The pages tab lists all of the content pages currently defined in your ezimerchant store. Content pages are used where other types of pages such as category pages, product pages or other e-commerce pages are not relevant. Examples are the Home page and About Us or Contact Us.

the Searched and Card pages are also managed in this section as they are usually included in the same navigation structure as these types of pages.

New Page

Click the New Page tab, which opens the page editor to define the settings for a new page. See Content Page Editor below for details on what information is supported.

Content Editor

Clicking on a page name in the Pages list or clicking New Page opens the Content Editor.

General

Name
Include in Menu

If enabled, a link to the page is included in the content page navigation menu. If not, the page will only be excess of all if it is linked to from elsewhere.

Enabled

Controls whether or not the page is rendered and accessible through the website. Disable rather than delete the page if you want to make it available again in the future. This could be useful for seasonal information.

Content

Use the content editor to edit the content of the page. There is no need to include your site navigation, header, footer, etc as that is rendered by your site template. It is good practice not to format the text other than by using the drop-down which by default is Paragraph. This approach ensures that the styling defined by the website designer is applied.

Search Engine Optimisation

Meta Title

This the title that will appear in search engines and the window name in the browser, this has the most impact on page rank on your actual site (disregarding external links and other factors) when blank, the content page name is used as the title.

Meta Description

The description is placed in the META data of the content page. What this means is that the description is not rendered on the page but is available for search engines to read. Some search engines use the meta description to render with the search results. It has minimal, if any impact on the ranking of the search result.

Template

On this page, you have access to change your website icon, site logo and the site template.

Icon

The Icon also known as a Favicon is usually displayed in browser tabs. Its normally a smaller version of your main logo.

Logo

Click Change to upload your logo. It is usually displayed in the header of your website. The logo is also used in the eBay listing template.

Template

The appearance of your website is determined by the template with which it is rendered. Ezimerchant comes with a number of standard templates, all of which are deliberately generic as they are meant to be the basis upon which a web designer builds your website design. They are however still an effective way to get started especially with your logo applied.

Change

Click Change under the template preview to review about the templates and select a different one if appropriate.

Preview

Click Preview under the template preview to open a fully functional preview of the website in a new browser tab. This feature is also useful for testing changes to products and content prior to publishing.

Template Editing

From this section, there are variety of ways to connect the templates:

  • DreamWeaver
  • Visual Web Developer / Expression Web / Visual Studio
  • Windows Web Drive
  • Mac Web Drive

Clicking on the relevant logo will reveal instructions on how to connect.

See ezimerchant for Designers for information about customising template.
